Protein is one of the things that is looked for every time you go in for a prenatal visit. It can depend on how much protein was found. Sometimes you may have some simply due to an infection going on. It is, however, one possible indicator of a woman developing pre-eclampsia. This can become a very serious problem that would require labor being induced. If the amount is low, your doctor may just do some more checking and keep an eye out for any changes.
