I have a 2002 pontiac grandam just replaced the starter after several people said I had a bad starter. I tightened everything back and now won't start, Its trying to turn over but doesn't sound like its catching like it should. Any suggestions on what to do next or to check would be great. Thank you

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Clean battery terminals and cable connections. Also, clean the connections going to the starter motor.

. Use the shims to the starter motor, if the old one had them.

If it cranks but doesn't start, assess whether the security system is the problem. This has been a problem on many Grand Ams.
