Dear Sir,

I am filing my return for the first time. Here is my information

US Entry Date - 13th-Dec-2010
US End Date - still residing

Visa - H1B
Spouse - H4
Son - H4

I came with my all family and filed for the first time in Feb. 2012.
I worked for first 10 months in GA & later 6 months in AZ states. According my tax preparator (Jackson Hewitt) prepared my return for 2 states and 1040 (resident status).

I did paper filing and sent 3 envelopes to AZ state, GA state and for Federal return set to CA IRS office.

I attached application for ITIN for spouse and son (W7) with along with federal return.

I posted all three envelops on 19th Feb. 2012 with USPS. Till today (11th Apr 2012) there is no reply from Fed and AZ IRS offices. I got reply from GA state IRS on 14th March demanding SSN # for my spouse and son.

I checked on IRS site Where is My refund link but it says that they don't have any information for my case.

I forgotten to send registered mail to fed so I do not have any proof of sending my return.

My question
1] is it possible to track my fed return application?
2] why there is no reply at all?
3] can I re-send my fed return and W7 application?
4] how to contact IRS office either in person or on phone. The number given on IRS website is not useful as it gives same information as we get from link "Where is my refund" and we can not contact anyone in person for further information.

Can someone help me out?

Regards
Somnath

You have sent your federal income tax return to wrong address. Since you return had W-7 attached, it was to be sent to ITIN processing center. ITIN center allots ITIN and then forwards tax return to the correct address. So wait till you hear from IRS.
May be you should call IRS office in CA where you mailed your tax return. They may be able to provide you the answer.

Thanks MukatA for your quick reply.

Actually tax preparator himself written the addresses on the envelop and hence I thought he had mention correct addresses. I just attached stamps and posted it.

I will check with CA IRS office if they have received my application or not.
