Hi, I live in Uruguay and I'm fighting a recent law that forbids me to play with my dog. The dog's supposed to be on a leash, and that makes frisbee and ball games a relic from the past  . I can't believe it, I resist to believe it. I wonder where else it's actually the same. Can anyone confirm me if such a law exists somewhere else?

n the USA we have different laws in different places. Many of them forbid letting a dog run loose. Dogs are allowed to be out in a fenced area. I have about a 15 X 35 meter area fenced. I can take my dogs out there and play fetch and Frisbee. I can also let them out by themselves to relieve themselves. I have a 7 meter cable attached to a flag pole in my front yard. Out there I need to be careful not to throw things beyond the reach of the cable. We can still have a good time. There is no law right where I live requiring me to control my dog. I do it for their protection. It also ensure they do not annoy my neighbors.
Where we have the laws, they are quite workable. People are still allowed to take dogs hunting with them in undeveloped areas. Read your law and try to see if you can make it work.

Thanks for the reply. The thing is, here in our country's capital, 90% of prople have no backyard or open space to use like you say. I've seen in movies mostly, people playing with their dogs in city spaces like Central Park, for example. Maybe it's against the law, that's what I was wondering because most people here are uncomfortable with this regulation because our dogs are getting fat and depressed...

Are you allowed to jog while the dog is on a leash running with you? Can you throw a ball inside your home and have the dog fetch it and bring it back to you? If this is allowed in your country those are 2 ways to play with your dog. That is really rough to have those very restrictive rules regarding any animal. Good luck in your efforts.
