I was also wondering about this because I live in NC and my husband left us (my 2 daughters and myself) and moved to Canada with his girlfriend that he met online. He has been gone for about 8 months and hasn't paid any child support. I've been told by some that since he's in another country, I won't be able to collect child support. Not sure of the steps to take.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Have you filed for support? Until a court issues an order of support he doesn't legally owe any.

The US and Canada do have reciprocal arrangements so you may be able to collect. So your first step is to obtain a divorce and order of support. Once that is done, you can approach the NC child support collection agency to see what can be done about enforcing the order in Canada.

Agree have you filed for divorce, do you have any court orders for support yet ? So you need to get all of that done and have him served.
