As your body prepares for ovulation, you will have some follicle growth. Usually just one will enlarge enough, or mature, to where an egg is released (ovulation). Seeing small follicles is not necessarily a problem, and can be quite normal, depending on where you are in your cycle.

At this stage in your cycle, several days before your period is due to start, the number of follicles seen would be more important than the size. Small follicles are what would be expected.

Generally, you will see an increase in size after your period and in the days leading up to ovulation. At some point, usually just one will take over and mature to release an egg for ovulation.
