My wife and I are senior citizens trying to buy a house. There is no rental available for us. I have a judgement against me from a Chase Manhattan credit card. I never spent $40,000 dollars on that credit card!! Why wasn't I informed it was going into judgement. And, why did the balance jump about $28, 000?? This dates back to Oct. 2006 and I have heard nothing from you.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread. Second, I'm not sure who the "you" is that you refer to in your last sentence, but we have nothing to do with chase or any court. AskMeHelpDesk is a Q&A site offering answers and advice on a wide variety of topics.
So it sounds like a default judgment was entered against you because you failed to respond to a summons. You may have never been properly served, but that's going to be hard to prove 5 years later. Its not hard to have a few thousand increase exponentially from interest and fees.
So the question now is what to you want to do? Do you want to try and fight the judgment or what?
