I have noticed that my kitchen sink is leaking on to the counter from the rim. When I checked underneath in the cabinet everything looked dry. I will wash a dish and everything is dry, then come back to find a line of water (a long puddle) next to the left rim of the sink that goes the whole length. I have put some caulk in there, but it still seems to be doing it.
I am confused as to how water could be coming out of the sink like that. Could it have something to do with the faucet hook up? What can I do to stop it?

Is the water on the sink or counter side? Sounds like you have to purchase a tube of Dap White Tub and Tile Caulk and recaulk the rim. How we do it is before we install the sink we lay a bead of Dap under where the rim will set. We then set the sink and rim. Squeezing out the excess dap which we wipe off. You won't be doing this, Simply caulk the inside and outside of the rim. Wipe off the excess and you're done. Good luck, Tom

... bur before you do what Tom suggested, see if you can find source of the leak. Turn faucet ON and observe where is the water coming from. You may have broken faucet. Back to you. Milo

That is what I did and it is still leaking (I also used it on my shower and it came off within 3 days (yes I gave it time to dry)... needless to say I am not a fan of that particular caulk).

It is sitting on the counter right next to the rim. Most have the problem of the water leaking from there to under the sink. I have it coming from under the sink on to the counter. I just don't understand how it could be doing that... the water pipes don't run around the sink do they?

What kind of faucet do you have ? How old is it ? Any noticeable wear ?

I believe it is older. I have only owned the house for 6 months. It just recently started leaking about a week ago.

Is it Cast Iron, Plastic or Stainless Steel sink ?
What material is the counter top ?
Is the faucet mounted on top of the sink or on top of counter top ?

Stainless steel, countertop is maybe laminent... I am not really sure on that.

You keep indicating that you go away and then, "come back 10 min later and there is a puddle"...

Not to be a smart alec, but the first thing I'd recommend is to use the faucet and then sit right there for 10 minutes or so until you see where the water is coming from... most likely sounds like it is coming from under the faucet. I'm betting you'll see what's going on after that!

I think Mark's on to something here. BTW, Stainless steel sinks don't have a separate rim. The rim's a part of the sink. Cheers, Tom
