. Disconnect the black negative battery cable. Unscrew the dashboard of the Cadillac with a #2 Philips-head screwdriver. There are screws at each corner of the dash and underneath in the middle portion of the dash. You should now see the cross bar brace that separates the passenger area from the engine. Remove this brace with a socket wrench.

. Disconnect and position the ignition control module assembly and the cross-car harness so that you can get behind it and access the blower motor. Next, remove the solenoid purge valve with a socket wrench and remove the screws from the inertia plate that rests next to the blower motor.

. Remove the connector wires running to the blower motor by hand and unscrew the screws holding the motor to the engine to remove it. You can now install the new motor.

. Tighten the blower motor screws 35 inch-pounds, as you install the new motor. The inertia plate screws should also be tightened back to 35 inch-pounds. Connect the wires to the blower motor. Reinstall the solenoid purge valve.

. Reposition the cross-car harness and ignition control module back in their proper place and reinstall the cross-car brace. You can then reconnect the black negative battery cable and test out the new blower motor.
