Why can't I get a solo in choir? I am 12, in grade 7, and 5 feet tall. I am a soprano 2 in my choir and have a slightly breathy voice. I always try out for solos and try my best, but I never make it! I always get beaten by my best friend and am so tired of missing out! Help me!

I'm sorry that you are feeling so frustrated. Have you spoken to the choir teacher to ask for advice? He or she would be able to let you know what you might need to work on. You could even ask for some additional help. That would show your interest even more and let them see that you are willing to take the initiative to do what you can to achieve your goal of getting a solo part.

There can be many reasons, outside of school do you take private voice lessons, are you using a voice coach before you try out for solos?
