My last period was Jan 5th when I took the test at the hd they said I was about 8 weeks and when I went to the Dr today on march 15th an when they did the u/s I was suppose to be 10 weeks an the Dr couldn't see the heartbeat or anything he was thinking I wasn't that far along. The sac measured 10mm. Does anybody know how far along I could be. I'm quite confused.

Hi momof2.5... welcome to AMHD,

A gestational sac measuring 10mm would put you about 5-6 weeks. If you are this early, it would not be unusual at all for your doctor not to see a heartbeat. It could be that you ovulated later than the average and you are not as far along as you thought. The health department likely dated the pregnancy from your last period, but that is just an average and it is often adjusted a bit after an ultrasound is done.

Did your doctor say when you would have another ultrasound? Often they will do another in about 2 weeks to look for changes and growth.

Ok that helps a lot he did blood work today and wants me to come back on Monday to do more bloodwork to see if something is rising I can't remember what its called. I never had this problem with either of my other 2 kids

He'll be looking for a rise in hcg... a hormone associated with pregnant. Early on it rises fairly quickly. Seeing a significant increase from today till Monday would be an encouraging sign.
Wishing you great results!

Ok that is what he said he was looking for. Thanks for all your help it has made me feel a lot better. I will be back on Monday to let you know what he said. Until then thanks again. It really scared me when he said he couldn't see the baby, but you have made me feel better.

Roughly early November, but another ultrasound will tell you more as early measurements of baby can give a fairly accurate idea of how far along you are.

So I went back to the dr today to get more blood work done. I asked what my hcg level was from thrus and she said 9800. So is that a good number or not. How long do you think it would take for the blood work to come back from today

Yes, that would be a good number, and would have put you around 6 weeks or so. There is quite a range that falls within the norm, so it can vary quite a bit, that is why having more than one reading tells more information. If your numbers have gone up quite a bit (should know within the next couple of days), they will likely do another ultrasound as well before long.

I got a call from the Dr office today and they said my hcg has risen to 10869. Is that a good rise in a 4 day period

That may be fine since there is a wide range of what would be considered normal. The numbers alone often do not give enough information. When you have another ultrasound, you will get a better idea of how far along you are. More than likely they will do another within the next couple of weeks.
