Can I use a casablanca s32 intelli touch fan switch for a hunter or hampton bay fan? I need a switch that will reverse the fan from either remote or switch and have been unable to locate anything thus far. I have cathedral ceilings and hate to get a ladder out every time. Please advise and thank you!

Absolutely not. Casablanca switches will only work with the appropriate Casablanca fans.

If your Hunter was not originally designed to be reversed from wall switches or remotes then it can ONLY be reversed from the fan.

Well now that makes perfect sense. I'm not sure if it was designed that way or not. It did not come with a switch or remote. Humor my ignorance, but how can I tell? By the wiring? Or? Ive noticed in my exploration of universal switches/remotes that there are none (locally anyway) that offer reverse as an option.

"hunter or hampton bay fan" which do you have, moedl is also needed. Is this a new installation or has the fan been mounted for some time? Most all remotes I see on the internet have the reverse feature and many are universal. However, mounting a universal remote requires you get that ladder out and install the matching receiver in the canopy.

Thank you! It's a Hampton Bay Altura Model 68038. It is a new installation. We did find a remote but no revese option. Locally anyway. So, we do have a receiver in there and switching it out would not be a problem. Thank you so much for your help!

This might be what you are looking for Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Reverse Remote Control UC7078T | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hampton-Bay-Ceiling-Fan-Reverse-Remote-Control-UC7078T-/170624214954?pt=Ceiling_Fan&hash=item27b9fee7aa) Hampton is a store brand for Home Depot, here is no actual Hampton Company that I know of. This remote must match a receiver inside the canopy but this ad is not clear and may be only selling the hand held.

Thank you! I so appreciate your help! A remote is better than a ladder! Lol!

Like I said, if the fan/remote is originally designed to be reversed by wall switch or hand held remote then it is possible.
If not then it is definitely impossible to add on aftermarket.

This fan Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan from The Home Depot - Model#:68068 (http://www.homedepot.com/buy/lighting-fans/ceiling-fans-accessories/hampton-bay/68-in-altura-fan-oil-rubbed-bronze-35702.html) originally came with a remote and reverse. I think the OP will be better off with an OEM remote kit.

What? OP? OEM? My particular fan did not come with a remote. I googled the fan again after I started the questions and found that they do now come with remotes. Just my luck! Lol! So what are we saying now? Get an aftermarket remote? I saw the ones on eBay. Most are just the remote but there was one with the receiver too which I will purchase if you are inclinded to believe it will work. Again, thank you all so much! I'm a woman and I'm handy but this one was beyond my "expertise". Lol

OP/original poster. OEM/original equipment manufacture. Does your fan have a small slide switch on the motor housing to revers the fan?

Then your motor is capable of reversing so the universal remote and transmitter should work for you.

But not to reverse it.
