I believe the average is 18 months. If you are concerned you should both see a Physician. If there is a problem it is not necessarily yours.

Some women get pregnant the first time they have sex, but often a healthy couple may have to go a year and more before they get pregnant. Has the husband went for a sperm court ?
Are you tracking your fertile times and planning sex around that time

It can take the average couple (both perfectly healthy) 1 - 2 years to conceive. I don't know of any doctor that will do fertility tests until you've been actively trying for at least a year. Most won't even test fertility then, they'll wait until you hit the 2 year mark.

There are ovulation kits available that will help you track ovulation so you know the best times to conceive. I would suggest those.

But other than that, 5 months is nothing. My first child took us 7 months of actively trying. My second took 10 months. My third pregnancy wasn't planned, that was one night of reckless abandon, and bam. So there's really no way to say when it will happen, but there are ways to increase your odds.

Good luck. :)
