If given an electric saw and you don't know how to use it what will you do so that you and your boss both benefit at the end of the day?

Ask for training when given a power tool that you do not know how to operate, to include reading the operating manual and given supervised hands on instructions to achieve the results needed.

No one should operate any machinery that they are not familiar with, results could be injury to the operator or someone nearby, and the work expected will not be done properly.

First thought if you are a civil engineer ask them why they are giving you a saw in the first place.
