BACKGROUND CHECK FALSELY LABELED ME AS A SEX OFFENDER. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES, BUT AFTER BEING TURNED DOWN FOR HOUSING AND JOBS, I FOUND A BACKGROUND CHECK WEBSITE HAS LISTED ME AS A SEX OFFENDER... NOT EVER even close. No arrests or anything of that sort. They removed my name, and said I am not a sex offender, but l was listed as one as are two of my former addresses with maps. HELP please, Do I have a case? {E-mail removed}

A case for what? You want to sue them? You won't win. Unless you can prove that someone listed you with knowledge that the report was false, you won't win a law suit.

Where you listed by only one reporting agency? I would get that agency to check and make sure you are not listed anywhere else. I would also get a letter from that agency stating, that due to a processing error you were listed incorrectly as a sex offender. That references to this have been removed and if this listing shows up again, to report it.

Then, whenever you apply for anything where a background check might be done, you show them the letter upfront and ask if this shows up on any check to let you know.
