My son is 3 and his father has had nothing to do with him (no support, no visitation. I recently filed for sole custody of my son; at court his father agreed to me having sole custody as long as he has visitation. (side note- he was told when we split up that he could come see our son whenever he wanted - he never did, no visits, no phone calls, no nothing) So the courts told him that he could have him 2 times a week for 8 hours each time! As I said before they have never spent any time together at all. Now that he was awarded visitation he thinks that he should just be able to come pick him up and do whatever he pleases, which I guess since its not written in black and white he can technically do. I do not want him to be able to take him since they do not know each other. I do not trust him with our son in general. So my question is, is there a way that I can make sure the visits are supervised, and that they are on my terms? I do have a lawyer, but I can never contact him until a few days before court so I was looking for options that I could discuss with him the next time I talk to him. Thanks you in advance for your help.

It sounds like you have already had your time in court and it was decided already. Your just going to have to live with it unless there is a major compelling reason to change it. Its not about you at all it is about the child and building a relationship with that other parent.

Agreed, this should have been dealt with at the hearing. Generally, you can't go back for a modification for a period.

Your lawyer really messed up by not putting some restrictions about giving notice of when he will pick up the child. Maybe your attorney can file to correct these issues, but that will be up to the local court.
