We are acid staining our living room. We let the stain dry for 2 days before we put on the Eagle sealant. The sealant gave it a milky overlay. When we tried to buff it out it also removed some of the stain. What do we do now?

I'm not familiar with which product you used, but the milky look is usually caused by some type of moisture being present. You can go over the aera that was removed, but be sure that the concrete is dry before you put the sealer on it.

Sorry kmjohnson, it does sound like a mistake was made or that the manufacturers recommendations were not followed. Good guess above but I think you didn't remove the acid residue enough or it was applied under conditions that were too cold.

Easy to find problems but the hard part is finding a good solution. I would recommend getting in touch with tech support of that particular product and describing exactly what's going on. It would also be worth a call to an experienced installer to get a bid on fixing the issue. I know that you're trying to meet budget by doing it yourself but you probably would not be here if you had hired a professional in the first place and that might apply to the fix as well. Iam afraid the "right fix" is to entirely strip the sealer and possible the stain as well depending on how it looks after removing the seal coat. Very hard if not impossible to remove just the sealer. If there is room in the budget and depending if this is new or existing, I would look into grinding it for a polished finish, no sealer needed.

Its also possible the milky look would clear in time but your buffing attempt may have complicated things. If your budget is tight enough for DIY, then you might want to consider living with the results.. nothing like a little character!
