Can I work as a can or hha in the state of ny with a felony
No, you cannot. The board of nursing does not give licenses to felons and most facilities will not hire felons as you will not pass the necessary background checks.

Unfortunately, to get your license and or certification you must undergo a background check. Each facility then has their own background checks to go through.
How do I know this? I am a Registered Nurse with a multi-state license. I am eligible to work in any state in the US.

That is not true and you should not be giving advice to people if you do not have the same background. I have a felony conviction. I was convicted 10 years ago. I became an RN in 2012 that is 9 years after my felony conviction. I was licensed and I am now working as a Registered Nurse in NYC. Please don't rain on someone else's parade

Hey hun, sorry I'm answering your question so late but yes you can become an RN with a felony conviction, and obtain a job with one also. I am living proof. I was convicted of a felony assault in the 2nd degree in 2003. I went to nursing school, and obtained my RN license in 2012. I am now working as an RN in NYC. I also obtained a "Certificate of Relief from Disabilities," This certificate lifts the bars to employment. Employers have taken this into consideration that's how I am working. You can obtain this certificate by applying for it at the criminal court that took care of your case. Carry a copy of it with you when you apply for employment. It works for me all the time. Also You do not need a lawyer to get it. Call the your criminal court, and they will tell you where, and when to apply for it. I got it within a few months after applying. In order to get it, however, you have to have already finished your sentence. In my case it was 5 years probation.
