She is almost 3 years old. Sweet, wants to please. Lately, she has been throwing up white foam, but, not every day. It is usually in the morning. She is very active. Trained to chase small felt balls across our small backyard. She will eventually pee from this action. She is trained to poop either outside or if cannot get out, in our garage. Of course, I prefer to have her poop in the back yard. Easier to clean up. She seldoms forgets, oh, if she does not get outside to chase balls to stimulate peeing, she will pee on pee pad in living room. No, that is not preferred, but, I keep 3 pee pads there for just in case times. That is not problem. Six months ago she began peeing in the area where I now keep the pads. I went with her desire. She gets sweet treatment and is sad if she gets yelled at. That is why I put the pads there to help me, too. I guess 90 % of the time, she pees out of doors when I throw balls for her to chase. We do not like for her to be outside, alone. It is wooded area and we have many trees and wild animals outside the fenced area. Scared a bobcat could jump from a tree and get her. Was afraid of the hawks, but, hope she is too big for that now. Still, I am with her outside!

Dogs tend to throw up foam when it's on an empty stomach, and since they digest quickly that's pretty often.
But she shouldn't be throwing up regularly. Does it just sort of come out or does she heave and gag?
Could she have swallowed a felt ball? Why are you allowing small balls of any kind, especially cloth? That's a known choking hazard. A ball should be bigger than the dog's throat and fairly solid and unrippable.
What do you feed her and how often? Does she get people food the night before?

It sounds like your dog may be regurgitating. Sometimes dogs will develop reflux.
If it continues a lot and you are starting to worry about it, you need to make an appointment with your vet. Only they can tell you that it is worth fretting over or not.

Thank you for your answer. She does not get people food. She does get a treat for peeing after
Retrieving the balls. No the balls are not that small. She can barely get it to bring to me. No, she does not chew up the balls. I pick them up and keep them in a Martha Stewart gray collander. She is fed Kibbles and Bits Bistro. I change the kind each new bag. She is put into her kennel at night with a treat. Due to your answer, think I will leave tiny bowl of dog food in corner of her kennel, just in case that is the problem. No, she has not thrown up in two days. I decided she may get dry, so have put tiny bowl of water in her kennel. She has not thrown up since I began leaving the water.Bought Beneful this week. She eats it when she goes with me in my car to do daily errands. Yes, she was heaving greatly when throwing up the foam. Perhaps it is over, but, so glad I have you to consult. Thanks, much. I named this darling dog Miss Astor, bought her the day after my 95 year old dad died. Had spent 4 months with Dad and step mother, I knew I would have a huge loss and needed the little dog. She is so wonderful, hubby and I would be bereft if we lost her, yet, I cannot afford to run to the vet constantly. Did not run my children to doctor constantly. They are all four healthy, strong, and serving our society in good ways. Miss Astor gets all shots in September from roving vet at our Walgreens. She has a chip. Trying to treat her with all the love, we feel for her!
She will be 3 on May 26th. Dad died 19 Aug 2009. Bought Miss Astor 20 Aug, 2009. Sweetest animal.

Let me educate you on food:)
Kibbles & bits and beneful have to be the worse foods you could possibly feed a dog. The color in the kibbles is actually human grade food dyes that were deemed unfit for human consumption. The colors are also said to be carcinogenic (cancer forming). The ingredients are absolutely awful. It is nothing but fillers and animal parts that wild dogs wouldn't even want to eat such as hooves, beaks and feet. And I'm not even joking when I say that. The "flavor" comes from blood, not meat and there is no vegetables in it.. just whole ground yellow corn which doesn't have any nutrition that a dog can use.
Feeding those two brands is like feeding your kids candy and McDonald's for ever meal. Dogs get overweight on these diets and get bad teeth as well. I really cannot say anything good about these foods. If you were to grade them yourself, you would see they would score an extremely low score.
See what you get.. You might be surprised! Please visit this site >> Rate Your Dog Food (http://pawstoadmire.com/index_files/RateYourDogFood.htm)
The foods I like and recommend is Innova, Natural Balance, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul: Adult, Blue Buffalo, Wellness and Call of the Wild. Basically, if you can buy it at Wal-Mart or any type of grocery store, its trash dog food. These foods are sold at Petsmart and Petco and various other specialty pet stores.
Some dogs are very sensitive to preservatives. Kibbles & Bits and Beneful are packed full of preservatives. It could be the reason why your dog is getting sick.
I hope you reconsider the food you are feeding your dog. If you would like help on which food to choose... visit Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble (http://dogfoodanalysis.com/) . The site is based on research, not opinion. It really helped me out when I was searching for a good food to give to my own dogs.
