View Full Version : Why would cats form a circle around you?

Last night my friend and I wa walking home, it was about 03:00. I had a little to drink but my friend was sober. While walking through a car park a group of about 12 cats came to us and formed a near on perfect circle around us both, why would this be? I cannot find anything on line.

You had a little to drink but your friend was sober? This would indicate to me that you were not sober which leads me to my opinion - this is NOT standard cat behavior. Sitting in a "near on perfect circle" is certainly not cat behavior.

Are you sure this is what happened?

100% my friend was driving and I wasn't overly intoxicate and no we weren't on drug either.

First you said the two of you were walking. Now you were driving.

Which is it?

(I never said anything about drugs.)

I've been owned by cats all my life and probably was one in another life. This is not cat behavior, so I'm somewhat reluctant to accept your description of events. Even cats in the wild don't act like this.

Did you feel like prey? (or praying?)

Were you guys driving or walking? Make up your mind.

Maybe the cats were looking to roll you guys for money.

There are legends that cats can foresee death or bad things that will happen to people. Often a cat will or may try to stop you from doing something dangerous. They may be foretelling some grave event about to happen.

If you talk to her, would you please ask? Experts couldn't find it - and I think it's interesting (and scary).

I can tell you that in 1999 not long after my brother passed I had a argument with my boyfriend and ran down the street to my other brother down the street which would have been like ten minutes away I then realised my cat had followed me and he was alway's hung around me I really loved that cat and it too passed rest his soul... but back to the story he'd followed me and I then kept him with me I then got to my brothers and chilled out for a bit and then thought I'm going to go home now and it was really late too but I started walking home with my cat and then half way home my cat then started hissing at nothing and so I freaked and then these cats we're circleing me I don't know why but they we're and I can tell you this I am definitely a cat lover I've always looked after cats and I've always felt a connection with them but from what I gathered maybe they we're just protecting me I don't know what from but I just felt they we're but I can say I did end up picking my cat up and running home cause it freaked me out...

I believe you cause it happened to me and I was straight and I too am a cat lover so all you people shouldn't judge if you don't know and I am a cat lover have been and always will be and just think that maybe they we're just protecting you cause that's how I felt and this happened in1999 not long after my brother passed...

What did you eat? Could you have eaten fish and maybe you smelled of it?

lovemedonth8

NO I did not eat fish and NO I did not smell... please give some real answers because I don't see this helping in anyway at all and why should I post at all if this doesn't help.

I think everyone answering should accept that there are things that happen sometimes, and there's no logical explanation for it.

All the long term members of this site know me, and know that I'm the kind of person that usually deals with facts, or experience. Well, I also believe that there are things that happen for which there is no easy explanation.

Just because it's not on the internet, doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.

In other words, maybe lovemedonth8 has a point. Her explanation is as good as any other explanation we can offer.

I've always believed that animals have a deeper connection to the things that we, as humans, cannot see, or choose not to see. They also have a sense about things. I've seen it in action.

An example. My dog growing up was a silver poodle named Silver (I was so darn original, wasn't I?;)) Well, he was always a calm dog, did his own thing, but loved us dearly. The day the big tornado hit in our town, I was in Germany, my parents were home. I called my mom earlier that day, and she was worried. Not because there was a storm, or anything abnormal yet. The day was like any other, but Silver was acting very strange. He was following my mom everywhere she went. When my dad left for work that morning Silver blocked the door, growled. It wasn't normal. If he could have talked I'm sure he would have told them, but all he could do was be a dog.

Well sure enough an F4 tornado hit not only the city close to us, but our small town as well. My dad worked in the city, and he was lucky to survive. My mom drove into the city that day, even though Silver tried to stop her, and she also survived.

But Silver knew.

So don't dismiss the supernatural, or sixth sense of animals. It does happen, every single day. If only they could talk. :)

Now I must backtrack and address my post in this thread.
My apologies if either poster who have had this happen was offended.
I certainly don't know why this would happen, sometimes strange things just happen.
I simply, was entertained by the mental image of a group of cats rolling someone for their money.
And what could have been going through their little cat brains.
And, well, it just tickled me.
I surely didn't mean to demean anyone's experience, please forgive.

I can only speak for myself, and I was not at all upset by your post. In fact, I think I greenied it, or at least tried. :)

I wasn't offended by anyone in this thread, but I realized that the last poster was offended, and I simply wanted to let everyone know that her opinion is not as out there as people may think. I too have experienced weird behavior in my animals, and other animals. Things that cannot be explained.

I once had a wild deer walk up to me, let me touch it, pet it, for no reason at all. When another person approached, it bolted. I wish the deer could have told me why I was allowed to approach it.

I've also had a very close and personal encounter with a wild coyote. My husband, who was there, safely in the car, still can't believe it to this day, even though he saw the whole thing. We were at Elk island park, it's a sort of animal reserve. Seeing a coyote there is rare. Well, we were on our way out of the park, and in the middle of the road there was a coyote. We stopped, of course, but the coyote wouldn't leave. This animal could kill me, rip me apart. I knew this. But I looked at this animal and for some reason I felt the need to get out of the car and approach it. I felt so calm, safe.

So I got out, walked right up to the coyote, and reached out. I touched him on the head, we looked at each other. For around 5 minutes we just sat there looking at each other. It was so peaceful. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Then I shooed him off and we went on our way.

My husband thought I was nuts, and I have to say, I don't normally go out of my way to approach wild animals, especially ones that could kill me, but I just felt safe. I had this sense that he wouldn't hurt me.

Animals are amazing. I think most of us agree with that. I truly believe that they know a lot more than we give them credit for. That they see more than we could ever hope to see, because we've been told our whole lives that we shouldn't. They haven't.

We were hunting one day, my son ( who is 34 now) was about 8 or 9 and was hiding being a tree watching a clearing, I was further down watching a pass. Of course early morning, he falls asleep, I watch a fox come up to him, get the bill of his baseball cap and run off with it.
I still have visions of this fox wearing that cap.

But cats have a long myth or legend of predicting death, They may sit by the bed side of a elderly person who is gong to die soon and not want to leave.

There's a show on TV called Animal miracles. It's about animals that have done miraculous or strange things.

On one show there was a cat in an old age home. The staff reported that the cat would go room to room, get petted, loved, and then would go on it's way, sleep in its bed in the reception area. Rarely would the cat ever sleep with one of the residents in the home. But... and this is a big but... every time the cat slept with one of the residents, that resident died the next day. It was as if the cat knew who would die, and when, and slept with that person for their final night.

After this happened a few times the staff came to realize that the cat could predict who was going to die. The cat has a clean record. Every single person (at this point dozens) that he's slept with through the night, has not survived to see the morning.

Animals know things. I'm sure of it.

Animals know things. I'm sure of it.

When my husband died our GSD howled - from many miles away, within 10 minutes of his passing. My neighbors all heard her. Some of them say they knew why she was howling because it went on and she sounded like a wolf.

She is not a dog that howls. I believe she somehow knew.

I hope he heard her.

I'm sure he did Judy. I'm very sure he did.

This story is bringing tears to my eyes.
