You've read the play? Have you checked SparkNotes for this information as to how Shakespeare did the contrast thing? Macbeth was a good guy but had lots of temptations and unfortunately often went with the easier road than the more difficult one. That kind of contrast is what keeps the audience involved, wondering if or how Macbeth's goodness would crash and burn as he was faced with various choices or obstacles.
