They say you can't take child support out of ssi money... you can take it out only ssdi moneys but in my case child support was still ordered by the court.(I still have to pay)I'm 31 and I'm on ssi because of permanent disabilities that keep me from working. It was ordered for my 2 children that doesn't stay with me although I have 2 that do stay with me The child support office says that they were unaware I was getting ssi but over the course of a few months I accumulated back child support(even though all of this time of the accumulation I was only receiving ssi and nothing else)... arrears back child support totals About 1500 which I will not be able to pay do I still have to pay this if when I was ordered to pay my only income was ssi.. and still disabled... I was ordered to pay child support while I was on ssi and not receiving anything else... I'm in Pennsylvania

When the amoutn of support was established, did you notify the office that your only income was from ssi? Did you respond to their requests for financial affadavits? Knowing your location would help as laws vary by state, but an order of support can still be entered against you (with SSi as your only source of income) if a court determines that you have the ability to earn additional income.
