There are 2 people I know that got cars for themselves with very little effort.

The first one is one of my sisters. She belongs to a church and was in need of a car and they got a collection together for her.

The second is a neighbor of mine. There is a program here through the state (I think it's the state, maybe county) that will put $2000 towards a car for needy people under certain conditions.

You could also try craigslist (not my favorite place but there are some legit deal there), kijiji, and Ebay. Sometimes people do give their cars away for free as long as you're willing to come and get it.

It won't be a great car, and it may need some work, but it is transportation.

And sorry to be a little less helpful perhaps, but if you are out of work, how are you gong to afford, gasoline, insurance, taxes, tags, and repairs.

Good point. Getting a car is only a small portion of the expenses involved. Depending on her driving record, and where she lives, the gas, insurance, taxes and tags could be a few thousand or even more a year. That's not even taking into consideration any of the repairs.

I am sorry if I sound wrong on this but I have helped a couple of people get a "free" car. As soon as a water pump or a alternator when out, the car sat and one even got hauled or sold for junk for a few hundred dollar repair. In another case they were driving with no insurance and did not even register it from the past owner who ended up getting parking tickets mailed to them. I have to say, that in the several cars I have helped people with, a couple free a few very low cost, none, not a single one ever worked out well.

I hope you would be the exception.

I will also note, it is not a donation to you, since you are not a non profit, it would be a gift.
