View Full Version : My son has 2 felonies and is 18 yrs old. Can he still go to college or into the army?

He has 2 felonies in the same sharges. Burgarly with habitat and aggrivated assault with a deadly weapon(his car). The guy is claiming my son hit his leg when my son drove off.

The military isn't currently offering felony waivers, and don't usually take people with more than one or anything involving drugs.

As for college, yes. If he doesn't have a drug conviction, he can apply for federal student aid. And there are several other financial aid programs he could be qualified for.

He needs to figure out what he wants to do, and pick a couple of schools he'd like to attend and then apply. They have financial aid departments that will work very hard to find any scholarship that might be available.

If you are still short, there are many free websites that will look for scholarships which you and many loan programs available, including ones backed by the government without much of a credit check.

First, lets clear this, if he was found guilty or made a plea deal, he is guilty, the "guy is not claiming" any more, he was found guilty of doing it, so by law he did it.

Agree, he could try the Army, but they are not normally taking anyone with felonies any longer.
But he can talk to a recruiter and see what they say.

As for as college yes he can but he will want to stay out of degrees in any medical or educational field.
