My wife has her period and just had a blood clot looking thing come out while going to the bathroom, about the size of two quarters side by side. Was this a miscarriage?

Has she been having normal periods all along? Is this period pretty much normal for her in terms of how she has been feeling, number of days, amount of flow?

It can be perfectly normal to pass some blood clots during a period. A period is a mix of blood and tissue from the lining of the uterus. Some women will have more clotting when they are having their heaviest flow.

If this period is not normal for her, or she continues to have good sized clots, she can check with her doctor. It can be wise to keep some of the clots to take to her doctor if she feels that she needs to go in.
