Someone I know got charged with (in her words) a misdemeanor called "menace to society"? Is there such a charge?

Depends on which state or country you are in. There are some strange laws out there.

Agree, where in the entire world is this. Also is this adult court or Juv court.

Its adult court in the state of Michigan, US. I mean I've heard of someone being called a menace to society by a court official, but never heard of it being an actual offence charged to someone.

The Michigan statutes are a terrible hodge-podge, but the crimes are in general defined here (http://law.justia.com/codes/michigan/2011/chapter752/). I don't see it.

The charging document should refer to a section of the statute. It should say something like "[your friend] did such-and-such, all in violation of [section number whatever]."
