Can you tell me how many weeks are the twin fetus in this ultrasound photo? How accurately can one tell the age by looking at this photo? Specifically, I need to know if these twins look older than 63 days, and if so, approximately by how many days/weeks. Thank you

Uh... Is this a homework assignment? This is something of an unusual question.

No, it's not a homework. I'm trying to figure out if I am the father! I first met my girlfriend (and had sexual contact with)on November 20th, 2010, and this is the scan from Jan 21, 2011. She gave birth to the twins on July 21st, 2011 via cesarian. Doctor said she was 37 weeks pregnant when she gave birth. But it's only 35 weeks between Nov 20th and July 21! Kids are now 6 months old and do not look like me at all. My girlfriend says they have my eyelashes! That's all! Nothing else that resembles me. I think she got pregnant shortly before meeting me (about 2 weeks?), but before I request a DNA test, I wanted to see if the age can be confirmed by the photo.

Pregnancy begins the day of her last period, even though ovulation takes place approximately 2 weeks later. So, 37 weeks pregnant actually means 35 weeks. Its common for children to strongly favor one parent over the other. The only, and I mean ONLY way to determine paternity is to take a DNA test. The size of the ultrasound isn't enough to determine exactly when she became pregnant.

Stop second guessing and find out for sure by taking the test. The children, your girlfriend and yourself do not need to live with the stress of you wondering if you are their true father.

There is no way to determine paternity by trying to guess the age from these photos. Nobody is going to be able to be so exact as to give you a definite yes or no with this and expecting otherwise is foolish.

DNA testing is the ONLY way you're going to get an answer.

Glad to hear it. Why live with such feelings if you can get a definitive answer, right? ;)
