I would like to run a 220 volt well pump from a 110 volt inverter type generator in the event of a blackout. Is it possible to use a step-up transformer or would something else be required?

Do you know what the load of the well pump is?
What is the power rating of the inverter? Is it
Large enough for a motor load?

All I can say it is not at all worth it.
And I can guarantee that a small 120v only generator will not be strong enough to run a 240v well pump.

I have a two Honda EU1000i inverter type generators that I can tie together. If you've ever had any experience with these generators they're super quiet and fuel efficient when compared to traditional. They worked great during Hurricane Irene. With the exception of surges when two refrigerator compressors were running at the same time, I only had to use one at a time. The only downside was the inability to run my well pump. I thought it would be a win-win if could integrate a step-up transformer for the well pump. Going to have to do my homework with regards to the load of the well pump. Thanks for your input.

I used to own an EU2000. I know first hand how great they are. They are just not great for heavier loads, especially those like a well pump with an intense start-up load.

Two EU2000's would probably work, but you already have the 1000's.
