The last three days we've noticed the a/c stops cooling to the set temperature in the middle of the day. It begins to cool properly again in the evening. Filters have been changed, I used shop vac to be sure drain line was not clogged, and checked to be sure lines were not frozen. Outside small copper line is not that cool & the insulated line is not cool at all. At the air handler in the attic the small copper line is is very cold and dripping condensation. Is it OK to continue running the unit until it can be serviced Monday? Can you tell what the problem may be?

Your machine is showing symptoms of possibly leaking this may be because of a faulty cooling tube in the unit or a malfunction with the unit if you want to be careful using the unit would not be recommended as a friend of mine had a machine which blew up spraying water and lubricant everywhere ruining belongings and furniture so if you want to be safe turn it off and wait for a repair.
Hope this helps

Do you have a heatpump? Or ac only outside unit, when in ac mode the smaller lineset should warm and the larger insulated line should be cold,, if not heatpump you got big problems,, if heatpump you might have a reversing valve problem

We're in So.Fla and have an electric AC/Heating unit with the condenser outside and air handler in the attic. I checked it again & while on Cool Mode/Auto Fan, the small copper line was still very cold in the attic at the handler. It was still dripping condensation from the small line & the larger foam insulated line is warm. To be safe I went ahead & shut unit down.
Thank you for your comments

Good call moneypitt. Wait till Monday and have the system checked out. Something is not right here, as wmproop suggested, the small line should be warm or hot and the large line cold. Please let us know what the tech finds. Take care and good luck.
