We can't help you too much with something like this. All I can suggest is that you get the hamster to a vet who could maybe give you a proper diagnosis. With all the animals I have had, a bump could be anything from an infected cut all the way up to cancer. Nobody here will be able to tell you for sure.

Good luck.

We have three young dwarf hamsters that were getting along fine although recently have heard then fighting a bit. We have noticed the smallest one has cuts on her bum, what shall we do to clear up the cuts and then should we separate them? Thanks

They should be separated. For the most part, many rodents don't really get along when caged together and the fighting will continue.

I can't say what to do for the cuts. If they aren't too bad, they will probably clear up on their own.

I have to spread the rep. Odinn is right.

Hamsters are solitary animals. They do not enjoy being with others of their kind. They are happiest when caged alone. In the wild they only get together to mate. They do not live in groups, not even in pairs.

The best you can do is to separate them. If you don't, you'll likely wake up to more than just a scratch. Hamsters will fight to the death.

As for the scratches, I'd watch them. If they become infected then you will need to see a vet. But most likely they'll just heal up on their own. Just make sure to keep the cage clean so that there's less chance of infection.

Good luck. :)
