I Have Lived In This Old Farmhouse For 3-yrs And Every Winter The Water Goes Out. We Have Triple Insulated, Fixed Every Leak And Changed The System Twice. The Wellman Comes And Changes The Condenser Box And The Pump Runs Fine For A Couple Of Days And Then Shuts Off Again Leaving Us No Water And Then Out Of The Blue (usually A Day Later Or So) The Water Comes Back On For Awhile. Can You Give Me Some Answers Why This Would Do This? Any Help Would Be Appreciated.

The well may have sand encroachment or is simply running dry. Frozen ground could keep it from replenishing. I would try to get some well people over for a free estimate on the problem. After talking with them you would have a better idea of your particular situation.

The well men have been here and changed the points/condensor on the motor already. Even they are stumped. It stays on for a day or two and goes off again but this only happens in the midst of below freezing weather. The tank and motor are new and all parts to the pump. Any other ideas?

Hi Mary,
While it could be sand encrochment, although with sand encrochment I don't se how it would come and go like it does, but then my pump experience has been with mostly sprinkler systems.
It seems to me that when she said, "this only happens in the midst of below freezing weather." she nailed it down to frozen pipes. Or am I missing something? Regards, Tom
