I have just aquirred a female dachshund who"s actual age is not known to me,I do know that she is at least 6yrs but probably older. I just noticed a round golf ball sized lump in her groin area right under the skin. I was told that she might have been spayed but not sure on that either. The lump definitely is not in utero, could it be a pregnancy gone wrong?Wish I had more info on her but was not possible to find out.

Is the lump squishy and you're able to move it? Or I'd it hard?

First thing that comes to mind is lipoma or hernia, however it could be a number of things. The only way to know for certain is to have your vet take a look at it. While you are there I would have him check for a spay scar also. Then you want have that on your list of unsures.

I would take her to the vet, your vet can help you estimate the age, and he could tell you if she was spayed or not. The lump can also be examined.

My grandma had a dog for about 7 years and we noticed a lump to start with it was a tiny little dot but it started to swell so we took her to the vet and the vet excamined her and said she was fine but it got bigger so we went to a different vet and they ran some tests and she had cancer and we had to put her down you should take her to the vet.
