I dropped a screwdriver down the toilet drain. Can't use a magnet because of steel pipes. Froze a couple small water bottles and stripped off the plastic and dropped them down the drain, hoping to move the screwdriver down the line. A PVC cleanout pipe outside lets me slide a hose with a magnet attached to the end,
Back up the line toward the house. I don't know if I have missed it or whether in days to come I may finally
Snag the screwdriver blade and retrieve it. Difficult to estimate how fast or slow the screwdriver may make it's way down the line because of the shallower slope once it gets outside the house. Solid matter will probably tend to move the screwdriver more than water flow. Good luck to you and to me. I'll let you know of any success.

Hi Klutzee and Welcome to The Plumbing Page. At AskMeHelpDesk.com. You're responding to a 5 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Look in then upper left hand corner of the first post form the date before you post, Thanks,
Did you pull the toilet and send a snake with a bunch of rags wired around the auger to push the screwdriver out to the cleanout? Back to you, Tom

How long was the screwdriver? If it was a stubby, it may have made it through the toilet trap, but if it was a little longer, it is probably still in the toilet itself. Are you having problems with flushing? If not, its probably long gone. If you can determine whether it is still in the toilet, and find it is not, then I would consider having a camera snake down the toilet drain and see if you can see it. If you don't see it in the house drain, then it made it to the city sewer and shouldn't cause a problem.
