I heard that alcohol levels can also be detected by insulin levels in the urine, as well as EtG. I also heard that the Federal Government doesn't even rely on these tests anymore for alcohol use because of their lack of reliability. Has anybody else heard of either one of these rumors are true?

September 2006 the SAMHSA, a division of US Health and Human Services, issued an Advisory proclaiming the test lacked proven specificity and that it's use was inappropriate and scientiically unsupportable for the purpose of determining whether an individual had been drinking. That advisory is still in effect and available here: SAMHSA Advisory (http://kap.samhsa.gov/products/manuals/advisory/pdfs/0609_biomarkers.pdf)

The test was never used in the federally mandated drug testing programs.
