I'm 42 and I've had somewhat normal periods. About a month or so ago I had a ultra sound showing cyst on my cervix and on my overies, I was told my a dr. That they wernt a concern even though I was in pain, sudden whieght gain and tender brest. I started my period early this month, first day no problems. Woke up this am feeling light headed and bleeding threw a heavy tampon and passing large clots, having to change a pad about every half hour. This isn't normal for me, after the birth of my first child(22 yrs ago0 I got bad infection from not all the placanta being taken out, I hemoraged and had blood transfusion and d&c. I also feel light headed. Is this clotting normal?

I am particularly annoyed that any Doctor would have such a relaxed approach over what you have described as having abnormal symptoms with ovarian and cervical cysts. They do not call them abnormal for nothing! Given your age, this does not sound right to me. Have you not been prescribe anything or referred to a specialist for this?? For a start, I'd be looking at an IRON supplement and getting blood tests to see if anything else can be detected – menopause, thyroid…

From experience; I suffer akin symptoms to you with uterine fibroids, although I would think cysts require a bit more investigation. There are different types of cysts and growth rates, just like in fibroids. Even so which type do you have and how long has this been monitored for or neglected? I would want answers and be asking questions when it comes to this area of my body.

I suggest a bit more pro-active research on your be-half on this subject, plus keep a Health Journal if not already started as this will be most valuable when menopause kicks in.
