My 13 yr old daughter wants to stay with the man I was with for 3 yrs,he's nonbiological to her and ever one obviously knows that,he has in a underlieing way alienated her from me and my family,as they have spent quiet a lot of time together in the last month, this was when he and I were having problems, when I actually left the house with my other 2 children from another relationship, she had gone to the shops with him and told me she wouldn't be coming with me she wants to be with him... I'm seeing a lawyer on this problem on Wednesday but would love to here if anyone out there knows if he can legally keep her.I feel very betrayed as I've been there to bring her into this world, raised her for 13yrs and someone can walk into our life and after 3 yrs walk away with a child of mine.. someone please help with any advise you can!

Did he ever adopt your child?

Legally, he has no standing unless he adopted her. Even if you were married and he was a step father he would have very little standing. Your daughter cannot choose who she wants to live with.

If he is keeping her from you, call the police and go pick her up. She should be considered a runaway. I wouldn't wait until Wed.

I would also be concerned about their relationship. There may be some other things going on here.

Just go get her, you should not have left her in the first place. If she will not come, call the police to go with you. Do not wait, do it today
