I had a minor surgery one week ago to remove a cyst on my neck. The actual surgery lasted twenty minutes. I was told by my Eng that I would be given something to put me asleep in my IV and that would be it. When I got to day surgery I was told by anaesthetist I would be put to sleep with something in IV and during surgery I would have to be kept asleep with gas. I asked how that would be done and the Dr told me a small device would sit on the back of my tongue and release gas she said the device was the size of half dollar. When she said a tube would be put down my throat I stopped her and said no I did not want a tube. She said o... k. And off I went. After surgery I learner I was given an LMA and my throat has been butchered. I had cuts and sores. I am still hoarse. The point is I said no tubes and they put this LMA down my throat any way.
