Personally, I didn't allow my children to date one-on-one at 14 years of age. Group dates were okay. Essentially calling themselves a couple but hanging out with the group.

Legally, I don't know of any laws about dating. However, some places have laws on acceptable intimate touching as well as intercourse. So you would need to check the laws where you live to make certain you don't cross any legal boundaries.

The bottom line, though, is parental/guardian approval. If both sets of parents are okay with you dating and following their rules, then everything should be all right. If they don't approve, then you need to follow their rules.

You (includes both you and the boy) can politely ask if there is anything you can do to show you are ready to date such as showing responsibility in other areas of your life. Keeping up your grades, being home when you are supposed to be, doing chores or helping out without being told to, etc. are ways you can show you are mature enough to handle adding dating to your schedule.

A problem from what perspective? This is an oft asked question and the answer is (in dozens of other posts) that there are no laws against dating. Any laws refer to sexual activity, which you dealt with.

However, a 14 yr old is subject to her parent's control. So she needs her parent's permission to data and who to date. As long as the parents are OK with it, there shouldn't be a problem.

The age difference is not a major problem a 2 yr gap, even at your ages, is not a big issue.
