I am living with a French citizen and I am an American citizen. We live in the US.
His wife who is French and living in France, has asked his sister, living nearby in France, to get a power of attorney from him and is filing for divorce.
He had thought she would get a divorce by filing a 'desertion by him' and this may not be an option anymore in France.
He has written a letter to her attorney and I had to as well, though I don't really know why.
We both basically stated I support him in total, for everything, and that I would pay his part of the lawyer's fees.
Do I need a lawyer as well to protect my assets? We are both older and retired.
