My wife got sentence to 1 to 3 in New York State for violation her Felony probation. She has a history of writing bad checks. I/we never been through this before what can we expect.
Also this sentence seems very harsh since she only had 1 year out of her 5 years left with her probation.
I'm desperately looking for wise advise.

It does not make any difference how many more years she had left on probation, Probation does not work like parole. If she had 5 years probation and 4 years 300 days into it, if they violate it , they will get the same sentence often as if they violated it on the 2nd day.
They are expected not to do any more crime, anytime during probation.

Actually the sentence is light, it could have been much longer, this sounds like a somewhat light sentence.

Perhaps no more checking accounts when she gets out of jail.
