Hello,
Found a few small wet spots on the carpet in the master bedroom leading to a closet (under door threshold). The master is on the second floor with a garage under neath. There is no wet arrears around the door frame and nothing on the ceiling in the garage. There is a support beam directly under the wet area. I have no pets and the children do not go into our bedroom, so nothing was spilled. The wet spot has appeared twice each time after it rained. Where could the water be coming from? Very perplexed.
Thanks Fred

Have you checked your attic above the closet for wet spots?

You are going to have to look in the attic with a powerful flashlight during the next rain. Leaks can travel from the opposite side of the house before dripping, so don't assume any leak is on that part of the roof over the wet spots. So you have to look carefully and thoroghly at the entire roof until you find something.

I checked the attic and it's dry. The walls, ceiling and door frame are dry with no water damage.

I wonder if it's seeping all the way from the outside wall and along the floor plate where the closet wall is. A place on the overhang where flashing is lifted or gone, rain going down the inside of the siding where it can't be seen, working it's way across. Or if there's a deck outside your bedroom and flashing is lifted at floor level, or debris caught along the edge, etc.

You might not have water damage in the attic if this is a recent event. You have to catch it while its wet.

And yes, it is possible its wicking in along the wall sill plate... water many times does not take the expected path getting in.
