The only way to bypass the fan remote is to climb up there, open the canopy and disconnect the wires to fan and from the supply. Right now 3 wires run up to the canopy to supply power: black, hot then white/neutral and finally green is ground. You may even have a wall switch controlling this line but they run up to a receiver. Wires coming out of the receiver then go to the fan motor and light if you have one. The remote just completes the circuit, acts like a dam for electricity reaching you fan.

I just did it. A good experiment through a daring trial and error method. I bypassed the receiver to my Elmark ceiling fan and installed a new KDK fan regulator. Now that I found the solution,no more hassle related to the useless remote control. What needed is to get to the receiver and install a wire connecting the brown wire(L from source)to the yellow wire (L from receiver to fan motor).thats all needed to be done. Do not touch anything else. My Elmark fan is the simple remote control 5 blades ceiling fan without light.
