Hi, I don't have a pomeranian, but planning that I might get a pom or another toy breed. I have a fairly large pool and I know dogs swim, but would a pom with such a coat be allowed to swim? Would it damage the fur or tangle it?

AS far as Pom I had one and he would swim in our pool all the time and it didn't seem to affect his coat.
They can be very smart dogs ours was deaf but we were able to teach him sign language which he did very well with when we would talk to him.
Oh and we also had a shizu (if that's how you spell it lol)
And he would swim to but it seemed to affect his breating more then the pom and he was very small only around 8lbs. Hope this helps

Don't know much about Poms, but their coat can't be too much fluffier than many retrievers, Goldens, Flat coated, and Nuefs. May want to rinse it off afterwards. May friend had a big problem with her Lab lying in puddles while she did water aerobics. He had a severe skin problem. He now has a waterproof mat to lay on.
