Hi Rebeccapotter... welcome to AMHD,

Do you know the cause of the murmur? Since you are experiencing chest pains it would be wise to contact your doctor or consider going to the ER.
Pregnancy can often cause more palpitations, but it is always wise to have it checked out to be sure there is nothing more serious occurring.

Mitral valve prolapse is the cause of my murmur

Some doctors or midwives may choose to follow a slightly different path of care with mvp. I saw your other post regarding hcg levels, so you have seen a doctor already? What did they have to say about the mvp? Do you normally get occasional chest pains or is this new?

Yes I have seen a doctor but he did not say anything about it. And I have had chest pains once before it was when I was diagnosed with the heart murmur and MVP but it wasn't this bad and since I posted my left lower abdomen and rectum have begun to hurt, it's a sharp pain

I know it may not help you much, but since this is online, it is not in our scope of practice to be able to diagnose, so we can only speculate on a possible cause.

It may very well be related to the mvp, but since you are dealing with potential heart issues, in addition to pregnancy, it really would be best to give your doctor a call. They may want you to go in and get things checked out depending on the answers to other questions they may ask you.

Again, it is not uncommon for pregnancy to cause more benign heart issues, due to the sharp increase in hormones, but you don't want to dismiss it as that if it is causing you concern. Better to be on the safe side and at the very least have some peace of mind.
