Program where UAs are collected. These aren't observed. We provide a sample in a styrofoam cup. Cups are left in a room unattended and we are asked to provide a specimen during the time we go for groups. I'm wondering what type of testing would be possibly performed and if it is likely it includes EtG.

I would hope that it does not involve laboratory testing, but it might.

The fact that the sample is provided in a styrofoam cup would point to on-site testing for alcohol, recent drinking, and should exclude EtG which is laboratory based. 1) Bodily fluids must be shipped in approved containers, 2) samples for lab testing should be immediately sealed to avoid contamination.

How are these unattended samples identified?

The cups are left with our names written in ink on them, first name last initial. Cup lids are provided but not everyone uses them.

Can't imagine that being anything but onsite testing and a very poor method for even that limited use.

Thanks. I assumed as much.
