I have this friend, when I met her was really nice. She gave me advice, and always helped me through things. We've been friends for about five years, and she's now in high school. Lately, I've noticed that all she wants to talk about is herself, and I listen to her wholeheartedly, but when it comes to me telling her something, for instance, that I wrote a play and my drama class is going to perform it, all she said was " That's interesting." After that everything I told her was given that same response. She is so into herself, that when she calls to invite me over, and I can't because I'm already hanging out with someone else, she gives me the silent treatment. I say I'm sorry but all she says "It's Ok" But really it isn't. She makes me feel guilty. If things don't go her way, she gets angry. I'm afraid to say something because I know she'll get all moody. I mean I know we've been friends for a while, but she doesn't need to treat me like I'm a bay or something. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO PLEASE HELP!

I feel your pain.

You may not want to hear this, but the best way to deal with these people is to disassociate yourself from them completely.

Your friend's insecurity is great that she feels slighted when you have other plans, as if you are her dog to kick. It's clear that she is in serious, emotional pain because she can't find happiness on her own. This is tough problem to fix and the only one who can do it is her and her alone. In the meantime, she just adds stress to your life. It's best to part ways.

Also, talking to her won't help any because these folks won't even listen in the first place.

Just try talking to her about it alone, if it doesn't work out remove all contact from her and ignore her so she can know how you feel.
