My auto finance company continually contact, even though I have specifically requested that they no longer do so, my references regarding my account. Asking them questions about where I live, my payments, etc. when they have my numbers and addresses at home and work. I have been making payments with them for four years. Most recently, my mom made an over the phone payment for me. The finance company then contacted her when my ten day grace period was up and the payment wasn't in yet. They had not contacted me at all for or about my payment. They called her home address and then proceeded to speak with her about my account and asked for the payment from her. No one else's name is on my account with them and I have not authorized the release of my information to anyone and they did not contact me first. I feel as though they have violated my privacy rights and would like to know if there is anything to do to stop this once and for all?

Hello k:

Pay off the car. Get it refinanced, or make the payments on time. There's really nothing else you can do. IF you threaten them, which you CAN do, the next time you're a minute late, they'll take the car.

Excon has it right - pay on time, pay it off, don't owe them money.

OR you can write the company ORDERING them to stop contacting your mother and then you can watch your car get towed away the next time you are late.

- I'm just repeating what excon said, of course.
