Won't let me into my mail says blocked I have been using same user and password for years

Not knowing what email service you have:
More than likely someone has figured out your password. If you used this password on other accounts and sites CHANGE IT NOW. When you change the password make it a strong one and use a different password for each site.
Strong passwords

Never a word
At least 8 characters long
Proper passwords contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters the (~@$%^&)stuff.

LastPass (https://lastpass.com/) is a browser add on that dose a good job and stores your passwords on their servers in an encrypted form that they do not have access to, they also can generate passwords.
As for the account hacked most services have a way to regain control look through their help pages or contact them. After you get the account back export your contacts and mail if you do not have a local copy and close the account then open a new account. I personally like Gmail because of the Spam filtering and the fact I can use an email client and have a local copy of everything.
