Hi I have a problem with no water coming from the bathtub faucet. The shower works fine, it's just the tub spout that doesn't work. We have the 3 knob set up with hot & cold with a diverter in between. My husband has replaced the diverter, with no luck. Even when the diverter was removed and the water knob was turned on, still no flow. What would cause this & how would we fix it. Thanks -Adrienne

Hello Moonchild,
May be the tub spout is cloged, Remove tub spout turn on the water see if water flows if it does clean or change the spout, if not then problem is with the nipple see what is inside, Good luck.

Thanks John, We have pulled the spout off & had no luck on that either, no water at all will come out of the faucet. I even tried a wire in it to loosen anything that may be clogging it. When we bought our home 3 years ago it didn't work so he changed the diverter, then changed it again (in case the replacement was defective), since then we have tried anything we could think of. We are clueless on this one. Is there anything behind the diverter that could cause this problem? Well with out ripping out he wall?

Hello Moonchild,
See the image bellow how does the faucet looks, has 4 ports one for cold, one for hot, one for the shower and one for the tub, the only thing I can sugest to remove the diverter and the nipple for the spout try some hard wire or something to go inside the diverter port or the nipple side see if you can clear the blockage, other wise you may need to replace the valve, good luck.

All right, I think I maybe getting somewhere. I attempted many things when we first moved in with no luck. Not a drip of water. Last night I figured why no add some wd-40 to the mix (hey it works for everything else), I put the straw as far as it would go into the pipe (behind the spout) let the wd sit overnight & today I tried using a wire hanger to see if it would break up any clogs. I now have a tiny stream of water that comes out the faucet pipe & you can hear the water hissing (sounds like it is trying to unclog). The hiss I believe to be a good thing. Tomorrow I will try the wd at the opening behind the diverter. Hopefully this will do it :)

If that is the case I would suggest to remove the shower head put white vinegar through the shower arm and through the tube spout nipple leave it overnight and check I the morning and see if it clears, Thanks.
