I have a American pitbull terrier. She has a spinal disease which has made her unable to use her back legs. She is 7 years old. I just don't see where I should put her to sleep because She tried so hard to drag her self to greet people. Just don't have 400 dollars for a wheelchair when I'm barely getting by.

You may luck up on some of the internet sales sites. Also the manufacturers of dog wheelchairs will sometimes have refurbished chairs for sale. In many cases people will donate equipment, etc to their clinic, teaching hospital, or humane societies. I would call around any agency or clinic in your area, it won't hurt to just ask. Start here www.doggon.com. Another more affordable option for you may be a sling, it will aid in mobility for her given you have the physical strength and dedication that it takes.
Best Wishes

I did a quick search on eBay and found many new ones at "buy now" for 249 dollars.

There were also several used ones with bids at 120 or so.

Having a pet, esp part of the family is often like having kids, you need to find a way to pay for it. Perhaps go dumpster diving for metal or soda cans for a few weeks, and take things to a recycle center for cash. Perhaps ask people, family , friends, neighbors who know the dog for help with the money.

I am so sorry that you are having these problems. I know what it's like as I have 3 dogs and 3 cats and I have taken in many special needs rescues through the years. I have always set aside a small amount of money every month towards unforseen things and sometimes it's not enough, but it sure helps. Maybe you could try to do that in the future. Even $5 a week helps in an emergency.

Anyhow, with the immediate need at hand I have a few suggestions but I'm not sure where you live. If you live in Canada you might want to check out this page: http://www.dogsincanada.com/helpers-and-heroes-twelve-canadian-charities

If you live in the United States I found two possible resources for you. The first one is http://dogtales.wordpress.com/funds-for-pet-emergencies/ and the second one is: http://www.animalfriendsrescue.org/financialassistance.html

I do not personaally have any intimate knowledge with these resources, so please do your homework before approaching any of the suggested resources. If you live in a different area do let us know and hopefully people can come up with some new suggestions. You can also seek parts on Freecycle and Cheapcycle and try to build your own!

Good luck and please do let us know the outcome!

Hugs, Didi
